Counselling is an essential service and one that, when implemented correctly can be truly life changing for those that receive it. Providing counselling support is though a balancing act and one that requires gentle inputs in order to be successful in the long run. When people seek out or are referred to a counsellor or support worker they tend to be at their lowest point and need to be provided with the correct counselling support and helped to get back to normality.

Therapy, by its very nature is a slow process and requires a mutual trust between therapist and patient which cannot be achieved in a hurry. When dealing with all encompassing issues such as bereavement it can be incredibly difficult to find the right way to approach the subject without making a patient recoil.

In 2000 Norma James, already a highly experienced therapist with many years of practice behind her, made the decision to work only from a person centred perspective. In this video she demonstrates her practice and talks about her understanding of the approach. There is a 55 minute unscripted session in which the client works with real material, and two short debriefing sessions with the counsellor and the client. Then there is a 33 minute interview with Mike Simmons in which Norma talks about the person centred approach. Provides a rare opportunity to see a real unscripted and unplanned counselling session. Included is a booklet for further study. Chapter makers have been inserted at five minute intervals. Edited and produced by Mike Simmons.

Video on Demand

I'm pleased to say that we are well on the way to making our programmes available to rent (as well as to buy) on Vimeo (Video on Demand). The rental price will be roughly be one tenth of the sale price thus making it worthwhile to view and learn from these useful and illustrative films.
